MICRO-MIX SILVER RECOVERY UNITS
Rotex Silver Recovery Micro-Mix silver recovery machines are intended to desliver a batch of chemistry rather than connect to the processor overflow as a 'flow-through’ device. The reason for batch operation is that the cathode must be removed from the solution when plating stops so that the bleach-fix won’t re-dissolve the silver.
To desliver a batch, the top portion, or ‘Power Head’, of the Rotex Silver Recovery Micro-Mix is removed and the solution is poured into the tank. A silver estimating paper is dipped in the solution and an operating time is selected from the manual. The ‘Power Head’ is then replaced on the tank and turned on. After the established time has expired, the concentration is rechecked and, if necessary, the Micro-Mix is operated for additional time. Desilvering is stopped when the silver on the cathode has achieved a medium brown color. Of course, a recirculating pump and holding tank may be used to desliver very large batches.
