MICRO-MIX FEATURES
ADJUSTABLE PLATING CURRENT
When a Rotex Silver Solutions Micro Mix unit is used on E-6 or solutions containing reduced amounts of bleach, the plating current must be reduced to prevent plating too fast. Rotex Silver Recovery Micro-Mix units feature a plating current control as standard
equipment.
ROTATING CATHODE
Rotex Silver Recovery Micro-Mix silver recovery units feature a motor-driven cathode to continuously renew the silver ion in the liquid contacting the cathode; this is also called the ‘cathode junction’. Without agitation of the solution the junction would be quickly depleted
of its silver ions and undesirable chemical reactions would occur. The rotating cathode allows for a compact machine and was pioneered, patented and became the basis of the name ‘Rotex’.
DIRECT DRIVE
Rotex Silver Recovery Micro-Mix units use direct-drive gear motors without belts, gears, drivers, bushings, or other components which may require service or replacement. The gear motor shaft is sealed so that fumes from the fixer will not enter the electrical enclosure.
POWER SUPPLY
The power supply in the Rotex Silver Recovery Micro-Mix series includes specially constructed transformers for cool operation, fan-cooled rectillers for a long life, and ammeters to indicate the plating current. A circuit breaker is provided for convenient protection – no fuses to replace – ever!
CATHODE CONNECTION
Plating current is applied to the cathode shaft by a unique contact arrangement using high silver content contacts for exceptionally long life…no brushes to replace or slip rings to oxidize! This Rotex Silver Recovery's exclusive contact system was pioneered over 25 years ago and continues in its improved form to be the most effective method yet designed.
DESILVERING THE CATHODE
Another Rotex Silver Recovery exclusive feature is the flexible stainless steel cathode cylinder. When the silver deposit becomes 1/8 to ¼ inch thick (3 to 6mm), allow the cathode to dry overnight, or better, over a weekend. Then simply squeeze the cathode. The silver ‘cracks’ off in large plates and the cathode is placed back into service to catch additional silver. Because the cylinder is never scraped or otherwise damaged, it will have a very long usable life.
MATERIALS
All materials that may contact the fixer solution have passed exhaustive tests to prove their suitability. Only select plastics, graphite, and type 316 stainless steel are used to fabricate such components.
